A RIGHT ROYAL CELEBRATION Jubilee Extravaganza

An entertainment extravaganza is being lined up to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Northallerton.

There’ll be singing and dancing on the town square, classic cars, traction engines and  children’s entertainers in a right royal knees-up on Sunday 5 June.

The free event is being organised by Northallerton Business Improvement District (BID) in honour of Her Majesty’s record-breaking 70 years on the throne.

Entertainment gets underway at 12 noon and a busy stage schedule includes popular singing acts, two ‘princesses’, Northallerton Silver Band and Northallerton Musical Theatre Company.

The High Street will be closed to traffic for the duration of the event, allowing spectators more space to enjoy the day. An auto jumble will also be held in the Mowbray Suite at the Golden Lion Hotel.

“This is a chance for the whole town to celebrate a very special moment in our history,” says BID manager Graham Bell. “We want to mark the Jubilee with a fun event everyone can enjoy.”

A full stage schedule will be published soon. This event replaces the original Homefront 1940s Sunday to respect sensitivities ovcr the conflict in Ukraine.
