Northallerton’s Royal Visitor

The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, is in Northallerton today to meet volunteer staff at the Save The Children charity shop in the High Street.

The Princess, who has been president of Save The Children since 1970, has been to Northallerton before, when she visited the High St in 2009.  Alison Iles, manager of the Northallerton shop, said: “The Princess often takes the time to come and visit individual shops if she is in the area and it’s fantastic that our volunteers get to meet her.”

“We hope her visit will raise the profile of the charity and what we do here.”

Julia Robinson, Manager for Northallerton Business Improvement District said; “the response from local businesses has been phenomenal, decorating the High St with Union Jack flags and bunting to welcome the Princess which has really attracted the crowds.”

“We hope Her Royal Highness will have enjoyed her visit to Northallerton and comes back again very soon.”
